TravelVu will collect position data even when the app is on in the background of your phone. In most cases, all you have to do is to grant it the permissions that are requested. But if you have disabled the location on your phone, have low power mode enabled, or have had trouble with tracking data, please follow this article and review the settings on your phone. In order to reduce the battery drain, TravelVu uses the accelerometer to start the GPS, but this will only be possible if you grant it access to Motion and Fitness.
Global settings
Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and make sure the top switch Location Services is enabled.
Go to Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness and make sure the top switch Fitness Tracking is enabled.
Go to Settings > Battery and disable Low Power mode.
Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and make sure the top switch Background App Refresh is enabled preferable on WiFi and mobile data.
Per app iPhone settings
Go back to Settings main page and scroll down and tap the TravelVu option. We recommend that you have these settings enabled for best data collection results:
- Location: open to ensure it is set to Always and that Precise Location is Enabled
- Motion and Fitness > Enabled
- Notifications > Enabled
- Background App Refresh > Enabled. Also make sure the setting is not greyed out. If it is greyed out, you need to go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and enable the global setting.
The data collection does not require mobile data to be active, but data processing will be delayed until you have WiFi access and thus it can take a bit longer before you can view your trips if you do not grant TravelVu access to mobile data.
Notifications allow you to receive information and reminders regarding the survey you are participating in.
